Norwich is blessed with a host of amazing food businesses that pride themselves on the very best provenance, heritage and pure quality of produce. One of the greatest examples of this is Archer’s Butchers of Norwich, an Award winning Butchery established back in 1929. Archers Butchers is a fantastic shop incorporating a modern delicatessen and baguette takeaway combined with a modern butchery showcasing an extensive range of the county’s very best meat, poultry and game. Now in its third generation, James (Jamie) Archer has taken the business into 2018 but maintained traditional techniques and methods used by his father (Jimmy) and grandfathers (John Archer & Oliver Craske.)

We had the pleasure of working alongside the Archer’s Team as they delivered one of the Beginners Butchery Evenings at the Plumstead Road Shop in Norwich. An intimate group of customers were given a memorable meat experience, that included a behind the scenes tour of Norwich’s premier Butchery, demonstrations of ‘nose to tail’ butchery and a rare opportunity to actually make the now famous Archers Sausage, a historical recipe that even today is a closely guarded secret. We were extremely pleased to have been asked to document the evening as it unfolded, with a documentary styled selection of Commercial Photography. It was a chance to shoot relaxed business photography in a working environment where customers and staff did not feel uncomfortable with the camera’s presence.

Travel Photography Norwich – New York City

Travel Photography – New York

Everything changes in New York.. But then nothing does! The Rockettes still draw the crowds at Radio City,  The Oyster Bar in Grand Central Terminal will always overhear your whispers, no matter how discrete you can be and the $30orned beef and pastrami on rye will always draw in the tourists at Katz Delicatessen. Travel Photography city style doesn’t get any better than New York as the city that never sleeps grows and transforms by day and night. Street photography and New York City are terms that often go hand in hand and Blanc Creative wanted a piece of the travel action. New York is a diverse city, housing nearly 9 million inhabitants and a diversity that is astounding. The whole place is crammed  into a tiny island and its surrounding boroughs making it a cultural smorgasbord for travel photography.  It is one of the great locations in the world for travel photography and 5th Avenue would become home to the image that would, in 2013 see Lee Blanchflower take the Award of SWPP Travel Photographer of the Year.  The image, shot on 5th Avenue, was a homage to everything NYC.

Lee Blanchflower Blanc Creative’s director of photography and founder of the Commercial Photography company in Norfolk, took to the streets in December to capture the vibrancy, festivities and dank weather as The Big Apple descended into the madness of Christmas. Street Photography can, and should, be done everywhere. It’s not all about having to delve 3000 miles with a ton of kit and the fact that an image is shot in New York does not make it any more interesting than an image taken anywhere else. New York is a magnet for Travel Photography and literally, millions upon millions of images are taken here each year, making it increasingly difficult to create artistic photographs that stand out from the rest. Take the following image as an example of how ‘Everything Changes” in New York.

It’s a once in a lifetime shot. Stumbled upon as a freak winter shower stopped. The scene was pure New York iconography including Street Vendors, Chilli Dogs, yellow cabs, commercial advertising, rain, umbrellas, bustling crowds and New York Steam pipes. The iconic signage of 5th Avenue seemed to almost dissolve into the surroundings and this image wasn’t hunted down. Lee Blanchflower walked out of a shop and there it was. The SWPP Judges called it “A strong gritty image, which captures the essence of New York”

The two images below depict the same 5th Avenue location as seen through the eyes of Google Maps. It re-enforces the concept of how an image captured in the click of the shutter may never be replicated or seen the same way again and underpins the beauty of travel photography and street photography so well.

Find out More About Editorial Photography Norwich

Editorial Photography is an important element of any News story for commercial publication. `Editorial images support marketing and advertising ideas work and Blanc creative have the experience and technical abilities to specific briefs a photographic brief given to them by a client, a designer or an advertising agency.

This can involve any subject matter but is often categorised into specialist areas: still life, portraiture and landscape. Some work is carried out on location, but much is done in studios, using studio flash lighting and a variety of props and accessories. Some Advertising Photographers specialise in producing well-lit product shots for use on packaging and in catalogues. These are called ‘Pack’ or ‘Pack Shot’ photographers. Other Advertising Photographers choose to be self-employed and often operate their own studios. They are commissioned to produce high-quality photographs that sell the benefits of a product or reinforce brand awareness. They secure new work on the strength of past campaigns. Their original take on the subject matter is based on a thorough knowledge of the visual arts and the history of advertising photography.

They often specialise in a specific area, such as food, furniture, engineering, cars or financial services. They continually market themselves, through agents (who take a percentage commission), personal contacts and other forms of networking. Editorial Photographers produce images to accompany feature articles in newspapers, magazines and websites, chapters in books and text in company brochures. Since these publications cover almost every area of interest, photographers with a background in many different disciplines may be involved in this field, working both in studios and on location. Photographers are usually briefed by the publication’s editor or picture editor. It is then the photographer’s job to shoot images that will answer the brief and satisfy or exceed editorial expectations.

St Peters Brewery – PR Photography Norwich

St Peters Brewery – PR Photography Norwich

St Peters Brewery are well known throughout Norfolk as a leading producer of Fine Ales. The brewery has built a fantastic reputation for using locally malted barley with Kentish hops to produce a range of classical English cask-conditioned ales and a range of superb bottled beers. Blanc Creative worked with St Peters back in 2015 at a time when CEO Steve Magnall had only just joined the business. It was a great surprise to hear from Steve again last week when the phone rang and I was asked if I could help out with an urgent commercial shoot for The Sunday Telegraph Newspaper. With a window of only 5 hours, time really was of the essence, but we knew we could deliver the brief for St Peters Brewery.

Having driven the 25 miles to the Brewery, we literally hit the ground running, producing PR Photography Norwich & Editorial Photography that would be suitable to advertise the latest St. Peters Brewery products as well as accompanying a full article that would be written by The Telegraph Newspaper. The imagery was edited on site and hi-resolution imagery transferred onto the St Peter’s Brewery computer within 2 hours of receiving the telephone call.

Chosen photographs were used to highlight story which appeared in an Article in the Newspaper on Sunday 7th August 2016 / Copy text from Daily Telegraph Newspaper

Weatherspoon's tap into St Peters Brewery

St. Peter’s Brewery in Norfolk has struck a deal with Wetherspoons and Stonegate pub chains who will soon begin pouring a range of non-alcoholic beers brewed by St. Peters Brewery. The move comes in a bid to tap into a rise in teetotalism among younger drinkers.  Suffolk brewery St. Peter’s, which already makes cask ales and bottled beers for pubs and supermarkets, has spent three years and nearly £1m developing its alcohol-free beer in a bid to counteract falling alcohol sales. Chief executive Steve Magnall says younger drinkers “have a completely different attitude to alcohol” which the leisure industry needs to respond to. “They drink less but still want a social pint at the end of the day,” he said.

The idea began in 2013 when St. Peter’s owner John Murphy, the branding guru behind HobNobs biscuits and the Mini Metro car, was diagnosed with cancer meaning he couldn’t drink the brewer’s range of organic ale, bitter, porter and stout. It has now signed supply deals with Stonegate, which runs 660 pubs in the UK, and JD Wetherspoons, which owns nearly 1,000 outlets, that will begin trialling the draft and bottled beers from next month.

Tesco will stock the beer later this year, as 1,300 Nisa stores, ahead of “Dry January”, an informal event when people give up alcohol for the month to either detox or raise money for charity. Around 21pc of Britons are now teetotal, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which has crept up from 19pc five years ago, partly due to growing ethnic diversity but also a broader change in drinking habits.Although binge drinking is a recognised problem among young people, they are also far less likely to drink alcohol as an age group – around half of 16 to 24 year-olds (48pc) will have had a drink in the past week, compared with two-thirds of 45-64 year-olds, ONS figures show.

Mr Magnall said that the drinks market is rapidly moving towards lower-calorie and soft drinks. “But blokes, in particular, want to stand there holding a pint in their hand, not an orange juice or a coke,” he said.

St. Peter’s’ “Without” range, which turns out around 200,000 bottles a month, is made using a tightly-guarded brewing process that Mr Magnall says is different from versions already on the market, such as Becks Blue, where the alcohol is stripped from the beer during the alkalisation process.

“This process makes the beer very thin,” he said. “But our drink feels like you’re drinking a beer, looks like a beer, and tastes like a beer.”

It currently makes up 10pc of the £4m-turnover brewery’s output, with all 16 of its brewers required to sign a non-disclosure agreement to keep the brewing process a secret. At 0.009pc alcohol, according to the brewery’s latest test, Mr Magnall says there is more alcohol in a glass of orange juice than a bottle of Without. St. Peter’s brewery, which also has a gluten-free beer range, posted £3.8m sales in the year to February 28, 2015, according to the latest available results, and a £44,800 pre-tax loss.
