Norwich Commercial Photography & Business Portraits for Construction

Commercial Photography

Business portraits & Construction Photography. The perfect partners for an undervalued industry.

Commercial Photography, whether indoors or outdoors, are both really important elements of any imager portfolio for companies. of all sizes who wish to promote the services and important employees. The construction industry is just one genre of business that has historically been undervalued in the commercial image spectrum, where in reality, deserves so much more.  You only need to search Construction Photographers, Industrial portraits and Construction site photography to find amazing building bathed in glorious light, towering cranes, glorious part-built skylines and some great plant machinery. Look a bit closer and on the whole, the role of the construction worker documented with professional construction photography is sadly lacking from not only the portfolios of many photography businesses, but also the marketing materials of many building firms, ground working companies and construction specialists. Business portraits are very worthy collateral for any business or commercial operation, where experienced workers are a key part of your infrastructure. Website are one of the most fundamental marketing channels, offering sizeable opportunities to promote services and products, and to articulate the values behind a company’s brand. Websites are now much more than a must have landing page to find an email or telephone number. The digital marketing explosion is an opportunity for storytelling at its’ best and a fantastic chance to promote the experience, knowledge and trusting nature of the people who promote your companies ethos and values on a daily basis.

Unique Commercial Photography for company websites

Many businesses think it’s easier and cheaper to use stock photography on their websites, but in fact it isn’t. Stock photography is lazy and unauthentic and will potentially detract users of viewing your site properly. You may be wondering why? Using photographs humanise your brand, but not when they are all stock photographs pulled from a stock site. They often lack variety so it’s difficult use them over a period of time. Trying to showcase Construction Photography for example is even more difficult because more often than not, specialist images on stock sites are from a variety of companies, where plant machinery, safety equipment and procedures vary dramatically. Showcasing North American Building work on a UK site simply won’t cut it. Business Portraits are even more difficult. Try profiling your staff to clients with fake staff and non-branded work clothing is almost an impossibility and can really de-value your professionalism and marketing concepts. Bespoke commercial photographs genuinely has a place in virtually every type of company who has an online digital or printed media platform. If you really want to show your customers what you offer and represent your business properly then it’s best to hire a professional photographer.

A Commercial Photographer Guide to Corporate Portrait Photography

Norwich Bespoke Stock Photography

A Guide to Corporate Portrait Photography.

While the impact of modern smartphones on the photographic industry will always be a sensitive subject for even the most established of business orientated photographer, there remain a number of genres where experience in the industry can reap rewards. The need for increasingly creative social networking images and web based imagery has exploded. but smart phone technology doesn’t replace a skilled eye for composition, a large camera sensor and professional editing software. We are living in a crazy world where those businesses who don’t engage socially run the risk of being left behind and the online presence will continue to increase in demand as digital advertising platforms replace traditional advertising and printed media. The commercial photographer and the corporate portrait  the corporate portrait really are here to stay. Whatever the industry, everyone needs a good picture for their blog, newsletter, press releases, company website or networking page.

Thinking like a Pro

Standout corporate portrait photography should focus on the subject. Shooting with a really shallow depth of field and blowing out the background with a bokeh or gentle blur, allows the focus to sit where it should be… On the subject in front of the camera and separation from the background. It’s very easy to create images without personality, but whether you’re shooting outdoor portraits, office portraits or relaxed environmental business portraits, the end result should be appealing, engaging and leave the audience with a feeling that they’d really be comfortable engaging with the person in the image. As an experienced commercial photographer who wants to shoot. great corporate portrait photography, interpersonal skills are the biggest in your armoury and can make a break or a photo shoot. If you’re not a people person and find social engagement difficult, then maybe Business Portraits are simply not an area you want to form part of your photographic services.

A Lasting Impression

Identifying your client’s expectations and how their image will fit into their business profile is a key element. As an experienced Commercial Photographer should be able to work towards a brief within reason. It’s impossible for example, to produce images with a modern, glass filled background if your office is dark, restrictive and somewhat stayed. Working with you clients, you can identify where the portraits will be used and generate ideas to work around any barriers, with an emphasis on delivering the best representations of their ideas. Your

Environmental Portraits or Studio Lighting.

It’s a bit of a dilemma that can impact on the cost of a shoot and future costs. To put this into some context, the vast majority of corporate photographs are taken within the subject’s office and this can restrict the type of photography that even the best commercial photographer can achieve. Modern, light offices with lots of glass can be offer some wonderful creative backdrops where natural lighting is your best friend. Shooting environmental corporate portrait photography  means you can literally turn up on multiple shoots, mix up the backgrounds and shoot a whole host of fabulous images without having to artificially light the images. Studio lighting can give more control, but depending on your choice of lighting, set-up and tear down after assignment will extend your assignment time. If you are perhaps shooting a whole team of individuals and then have to return to photograph one member of staff, the costs can increase for clients and it may not be financially viable  to book in a shoot for one person only. Ambient lighting is very creative but is less easy to control. Avoiding direct sunlight can make your assignment so much easier.  Working during the morning means theTry to schedule your appointments during the morning. In the afternoon, your subject may look tired and not quite so freshly groomed, while the end of the working day could put time pressure on you.

Creative Musician Portrait Photography from Norwich Photographer Blanc Creative

I’ve been working across a very diverse range of commercial sectors many years. I’ve had a privileged the pleasure of being a professional  Music Press Photographer and Portrait Photographer for over ten years. I’ve had the privilege to work across the whole of the UK with a host of international music artists, celebrities and bands. My music portfolio showcases huge concerts and festivals including Radio 1 Big Weekend, Isle of Wight Festival, Forest Live and Sundown Festival to name just a few, but living in the heart of Norfolk, I love nothing more than to photograph Norfolk’s home grown talent and believe me, we have so many great musicians and entertainers.

I recently worked on an assignment with Gary Winter, an amazing Singer and front man for the Gary Winter Band. Gary was looking for a Norwich Photographer to capture a range of Portrait Photography images that could be used as profile images, as promotional material, be used on his website and on social media platforms. More often than not., there are aa wealth of locations on hand in public spaces that be creatively turned into modern backgrounds for outdoor portraits. For internal shoots, Gary had sourced opulent venue, complete with staging and grand piano, that would set the scene for the music element of the shoot. I utilised professional portable studio lighting and naturally lit portrait photography to cover more than one type of look.

Having worked as a Norwich Photographer, many of our clients come to us to create not only Headshot Photography, but because we have an amazing city, countryside and beaches all within a stones throw of our Norwich Base. Outdoor and environmental settings provide the perfect backdrop for personalised portraiture and starting out in open is a great to gently relax into the shoot. As confident as musicians and bands are on stage,  standing in front of the camera can still be an uncomfortable thought. We have a really relaxed approach to our work, love to communicate and make your experience an enjoyable one.

Business Portrait and Creative Outdoor Portraits Norwich

Business Portraits

Business Portrait and Creative Outdoor Portraits. Norse Group Park Rangers

A Portrait doesn’t always have to fall under the Corporate Banner, nor do they have to be shot in an office or business premises. We are ve®y much tuned to seeing lots of stock images of pristine suited, dynamic business people a cross stock photography sites and whilst many people would love to look like a Vogue or GQ model, shooting real portrait imagery for clients is very much about the real personalities Outdoor Portraits are a creative way to capture staff in a variety of working environments and on location, which can make portrait images extremely attractive. Our commercial photography team headed out this week into the heart of Suffolk to photograph a team of park rangers and volunteers working on the creation of a beautiful woodland park area for Norse Group. The portraits were diverse with a range of ages and backgrounds. It’s always important to remember that not every Business Portrait will be a CEO or a Managing Director of an office based business. Shooting professional portrait images is about capturing the personalities of our subjects and delivering profile images that they would happily be see in print, on a website or posted on social media channels.

Outdoor Portraits can also put people at ease. Removing a staff member from their work environment for a one to one shoot means that pressure from other staff and worries about being behind the camera can soon be forgotten. Now that the weather is getting nicer, it was a great chance to make use of the sun, which can be pretty overpowering for location portraits. Using professional, portable studio lighting allows us to manage the lighting regardless of how bright the weather may be. We’re often asked if we outdoor setups across autumn and winter, and the answer is ‘of course’ unless it raining, which oes cause a multitude of problems if shooting outside. Fortunately, we are usually able to build in contingencies for our outdoor portraits because we all know weather can be extremely unpredictable.
