Outdoor Portraits for Business. Bure Valley Railway Commercial Photography

Shooting Commercial Portraits allows you to tell a story and convey more about your business, your staff and what you do. Commercial Portrait Photography can be undertaken in a studio, but capturing staff in their natural woking environment opens up a whole new world of creative possibilities and showcases far more about your business than a plain background ever will. Shooting outdoor portraits in a typical environment also helps staff to relax.  Familiarity lends itself to putting your subject at ease and this is a huge factor in producing natural portraits. To coincide with a re-branding project, we’ve once again been working in the Norfolk Tourism Sector with one of our regular clients, The Bure Valley Railway.

Bure Valley Railway is a major tourist attraction within Norfolk and welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year. With a small team of dedicated staff and volunteers the railway operates on a not for profit basis. Husband and wife team, Andrew and Susan, head up the management team. Andrew’s love of railways from a little boy drew him to Norfolk and he became involved in the railway as a volunteer in its infancy and subsequently gave up his job in London a few years ago to work at the railway full-time. The Railway is built on the trackbed of the former Great Eastern Railway between Wroxham and Aylsham. Originally opened in 1880 the line survived for passenger traffic until 1952, eleven years before the infamous Beeching Report! The line did, however, survive for the purpose of carrying freight, a role it performed until the line was formally closed by British Rail in 1982. Norfolk County Council had an enlightened policy of safeguarding closed railway routes for use as footpaths. Through a partnership between local government and the private sector a narrow gauge line was built between Aylsham and Wroxham, with a nine mile long footpath running alongside.  It is Norfolk’s longest narrow gauge railway which runs between the historic market town of Aylsham and bustling town of Wroxham, at the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The 18 mile round trip runs through the pretty Bure Valley countryside following the meandering River Bure through meadowland and ancient pasture. Along the line are wayside halts serving the picturesque Broadland villages of Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall where you can hop off and explore by foot. Hop back on and continue your journey by train by waiving down the driver to stop.

Bure Valley Railway Commercial Portrait Photography

Shooting Commercial Portrait Photography in the heart of a steam based environment opened up some fantastic opportunities. Set against a background of engineering workshops, oil, grease and steam, we captured daily routines and passionate individuals who together, are responsible for the day to day running of the nostalgic railway. Shooting with predominantly natural light really is hard to beat. Creating ‘modern’ looking Commercial Portrait Photography is a case of working with the best lighting and backgrounds and making the most of having an eye for detail and composition. Working with a nice flat light was also really beneficial when shooting outdoor portraits, reducing harsh shadows and the chances of over exposed highlights. The chances to work with a Northern light can produce an almost  soft box look creating a soft, flattering light which fits just perfectly  for modern looking portraits. There is a reason why many artists have their  studios purposely facing the north.

Corporate Photoshoot for business headshot portraits

Professional Headshot Portraits

Business Headshot Portraits for Wealth Management Client

I’ve recently returned to London to work on a commercial photography assignment and a new set of Professional Headshots for one of our International Clients, Artorius Wealth Management, a group of internationally based financial professionals. I’ve had the pleasure of working with their personnel and senior management for around two years across offices in Manchester, London and Zurich. One of the key requirements for Artorius is achieving modern, natural looking images, with a clean, uncluttered style. It was important that I produced dynamic, natural, Professional Headshot Portraits to re-enforce not only the corporate environment, but images that would reflect the personalities of each individual member of the Team. Each office was situated in a very different geographical location, with the London Office situated in an 18th-century garden square in the Marylebone area in London, a short distance from Oxford Street. It is one of the smaller but best preserved squares in central London and made for the perfect backdrop to capture external portrait images as well as board-room based Professional Headshot Portraits.

Why your business may need a corporate photoshoot or commercial photography

Professional Headshot Portraits are a super way to really stand out from your competitors in a crowded marketplace. Taking yourself and your team seriously will undoubtedly be at the forefront of your business and brand, but many businesses fall short when it comes down to Business Headshot Photography. It makes sense that the quality of leadership and professionalism is reflected in headshot portraits, but more and more, we see inferior quality images, selfies and smartphone photography forming a basis for management and team photography. We have literally been shooting professional headshot photography, commercial portraits and Team PR imagery for almost a decade and we have a diverse portfolio to reflect the many different approaches we take this important area of business photography. Shooting in a studio, natural work environment or on key location are all options available to clients. We take a relaxed, engaging approach to our business headshot portraits. After all, not everybody loves to stand in front of the camera and people can find the whole process a little daunting. Business headshot Photography is used for a multitude of purposes and forms part of your own personal brand, particularly if your business is independent or if your brand, is yourself. First impressions are invaluable and it’s always reassuring that you can visualise the person at the end of the telephone or before your first meeting. There’s nothing worse than seeing an inappropriate profile image because negative impressions really last. Smartphones have developed to a very high standard but there is still no replacement for high quality commercial photography that delivers, sharp, crisp, creative photographs that can be confidently used in professional printed media and online.

We take care of the detail. Making your corporate phootshoot a literal walk in the park!

Hosting a Corporate Photoshoot at your office doesn’t restrict the content you will receive when you book Blanc Creative to shoot your professional photography. Business Headshot portraits are more than simply posing on a plain background. To maximise the exposure that you give your team and more importantly, to get the very best value for money from our photography, we always think outside of the box. Most city or town locations have access to green space, coffee shops and streets that work as fantastic backdrops to creative photography. Investing in a photographer who is experienced shooting from potentially quirky angles, blurring backgrounds with the correct lens and taking the time to speak with other businesses for an opportunity to invade the space of an al fresco coffee shop or open space, are all options for building a  bespoke portfolio and an enjoyable corporate photoshoot.

At Blanc Creative, we genuinely only work in the commercial photography, creative video production and licensed drone sectors. Unlike many photographers, you won’t find weddings, baby portraits or pet photography in our portfolios. We work in every sector of industry and every aspect of our work is geared towards delivering outstanding images that will positively impact on how people perceive your company and staff. From business headshot portraits, promotional videos to showcase your services or simply documenting your staff working in the environments, we have a case study to give you confidence in our work.

We offer affordable commercial photography for every size of company from sole trader to international traders. To find out more about booking a corporate photoshoot, why not contact our team today on 07871 364041 or email studio@blanc-creative.com

Norwich is blessed with a host of amazing food businesses that pride themselves on the very best provenance, heritage and pure quality of produce. One of the greatest examples of this is Archer’s Butchers of Norwich, an Award winning Butchery established back in 1929. Archers Butchers is a fantastic shop incorporating a modern delicatessen and baguette takeaway combined with a modern butchery showcasing an extensive range of the county’s very best meat, poultry and game. Now in its third generation, James (Jamie) Archer has taken the business into 2018 but maintained traditional techniques and methods used by his father (Jimmy) and grandfathers (John Archer & Oliver Craske.)

We had the pleasure of working alongside the Archer’s Team as they delivered one of the Beginners Butchery Evenings at the Plumstead Road Shop in Norwich. An intimate group of customers were given a memorable meat experience, that included a behind the scenes tour of Norwich’s premier Butchery, demonstrations of ‘nose to tail’ butchery and a rare opportunity to actually make the now famous Archers Sausage, a historical recipe that even today is a closely guarded secret. We were extremely pleased to have been asked to document the evening as it unfolded, with a documentary styled selection of Commercial Photography. It was a chance to shoot relaxed business photography in a working environment where customers and staff did not feel uncomfortable with the camera’s presence.

Interior Photography Norwich

Residential Property Photography

Interior Photography Norwich

We’ve been shooting Interior Photography for a number of years. We’ve shot for a whole host of clients across the UK including major Restaurant Chains, Hotels and Estate Agents and Private Clients. Selling a property and moving house is one of the most stressful times in a person’s life. It may surprise you, but people spend more time looking at a car before purchasing it, than when buying their new home. Why is this relevant to Interior Photography? With more than 98 percent of buyers clicking on to the internet to search for their new homes, the first few seconds’ viewing has become make or break. You only need to go online and look at the range of photos on any popular property website and you will see a stark contrast in Interior Photography quality.

Interior Photography Norwich – How Important Is it?

You’ll see some showing bright, sunny rooms with minimal looks, clean rooms and a lack of clutter. Homes with floral arrangements, fresh towels and crisp bedding. On the flipside, you may very well see that the next house is filthy, unmade beds, dirty dishing in the sink, washing on the line and toys and clothes left lying around. High-Quality Interior Photography is by far the most important part of marketing your property for sale so it is worth having professional photos taken.  Today you have to take an active part in selling your home and learn to market it. You have to put yourself in the shoes of potential buyers who have a massive potential number of properties to view. What’s going to make your property stand out! The answer is Interior Photography.

Peoples impressions are won and lost through photographs. It doesn’t matter if it’s booking a holiday or buying a car, sales are generated through professional photography. The old cliche of a picture telling a thousand word is just so true.  you are seeing your house for the first time. The key to best presenting a house for sale is to tidy, declutter, clean, neutralise the decor, fix minor repairs, decorate if appropriate and subtly accessorise.”

Creative Video Production – MA Wrigley Artist

Creative Video Production Norwich

Norwich Creative Video Production from Lee Blanchflower Limited

The opportunity to work on a Creative Video Production for one of the hottest Contemporary Artists to emerge from Norfolk doesn’t happen very often. When MA Wrigley, a talented, Norwich based artist, asked if we’d like to work with him to promote his new work, we jumped at the chance. Working with a range of medias, Mark produces mesmerising artwork including landscapes, contemporary portraiture, and abstract creations. He undertakes private commissions and is currently preparing for his first curated exhibition to be held in his home city of Norwich during the summer of 2018.

Our brief was to create a simplistic creative production Video Production, that conveyed a sense of emotional via a piece to camera. The objective was to deliver Mark’s humble attitude to his work and offer a brief insight into how he approaches his work. Mark Wrigley is completely self-taught and never undertook formal artist training. He has developed his own unique style over two decades and is now quickly building a solid reputation with his private client list from across the globe.

Norfolk Tourism Photography

Norfolk Tourism Photography

Norfolk Tourism Photography

Shooting Norfolk Tourism Photography has been a significant aspect of our spring and summer work. We work with a number of independent companies and a large Tourism partnership across Norfolk. We have worked on a wide range of dedicated briefs to showcase local Norfolk Coastal based tourism. The images promote Norfolk Tourism to potential visitors. Our Norfolk Tourism Photography focused on beautiful landscapes but with a particular focus on the local life and the people who visit Norfolk. Building a bespoke set of Stock images for a business is important. Images need to reflect every demographic who visit our county but the concept is about enjoyment, fun, and relaxation.

Norfolk Tourism Photography doesn’t always have to be about vast landscapes and rolling clouds. With our bespoke Norfolk Tourism Photography, we use our experience to adopt a very simple approach. We photograph real people enjoying Norfolk. We obtain permission (always with written consent using a legal model release form) and document their visit to Norfolk. There really is nothing that captures the essence of our county more than real people enjoying their stay or life. It makes our Norfolk Tourism Photography so believable. Because it’s real!

The Brudenell Hotel Suffolk – Interior Photography from Lee Blanchflower Ltd

Norwich Interior Photography - Lee Blanchflower

Shooting interior photography at this modern seafront hotel at the end of the Aldeburgh parade was a real pleasure. The modern Brudenell Hotel is 1 mile from Maggi Hambling’s Scallop sculpture, and 1.7 miles from the Britten-Pears Foundation at Red House, the former home of composer Benjamin Britten and tenor Peter Pears. We were commissioned to undertake a variety of commercial photography shoots for the family-friendly Brudenell. These would reflect all aspects of a guest staying at the stylish hotel. The photography would be used to provide a bespoke image bank. Our Interior Photography images are shot to ensure media can be used across all platforms including printed brochures, social media and website galleries.

Norwich Interior Photography

Interior Photography Norwich

Part of the project included delivering stylish interior photography that would reflect the luxury guest rooms paying particular attention to room detail. Interior photography lighting is so important that it’s almost a specialism in itself. You need to balance the lighting so there are no overly dark shadows or overly bright highlights. We used the light that was available in the room including lamps, overhead lighting and natural light from windows. We always try to reduce the need for artificial lighting as soft, natural light will deliver a far more relaxing feel and look.  Window light is a huge friend, particularly during ‘golden hours’ – early in the morning or late in the afternoon when shadows are not as harsh and sunlight is not as direct. Scouting a location and scene beforehand to get an idea of how light falls in the space is really important. If we notice lighting is falling too harshly, we schedule the shoot around the lighting will always benefit the space we are shooting inside.

Planning Your Interior Photography

Planning is so important. You simply can’t shoot Interior Photography at random. Room features play an important element to creating a story. Each room will have it’s own character and atmosphere that really comes to life with the addition of carefully placed items. Rooms are people spaces so a balance has to be made between showcasing the room and shooting interior photography as a people place. Not every room or space is a showhouse and this needs to be reflected in the finished product. Sometimes a stack of carefully chosen magazines or a coffee table book will create the look you’re after. When we shoot Interior photography, our wealth of experience in this specialist area has proved invaluable when working closely with our clients. This extends across residential properties, commercial premises or industrial spaces.

Stainless Metalcraft won a contract in 2015, initially worth £47m, to manufacture three metre cubed boxes to store intermediate level waste retrieved from Sellafield’s Pile Fuel Cladding Silos.  A 1,600 square metre production facility in Chatteris was developed with potential to expand the site to 3,200 square metres as demand increased. As part of the project, an investment was made in excess of £2m on capital expenditure to purchase plant and equipment tools for the facility. This includes a robotic welding cell offering both plasma and MIG welding; two new machine tool cells; test and assembly cells incorporating vacuum, pressure and dimensional inspection facilities; and a specialist cavity mixing and filling cell installed at the site. Austen Adams, managing director of Stainless Metalcraft and Avingtrans PLC’s Energy and Medical division, said: “The decommissioning of the UK’s nuclear legacy is a challenging task, and we’re delighted that Sellafield recognised the specialist skills that we offer here in the Fens.  Opening the new facility is a real landmark in delivering this important contract and was a significant challenge as construction works – including strengthening foundations to support the heavy machine tools required – had to go on alongside existing operations.”

Advice For Freelance Remote Work Success – A great guide from Trello

Remote Work Success - Trello

Advice For Freelance Remote Work Success. – A great guide from the guys at Trello.

Remote Work may not be for everybody! Personally, I work remotely, wherever I am in the world I am at my desk. For some people that sounds like a huge burden, and sure I understand that, but the reality is that I have total freedom. I am not tied into the morning commute, fixed lunch breaks or a uniform, some days I work in short and flip flops!

Gaining clients in a freelance world is only half the battle, the other half is managing them. I have tried many different methods to keep on top of projects from bouncing emails back and forth to relying on Skype or Facebook Messenger (I know it sounds crazy) but until very recently I hadn’t been able to find a solution that works for me. Enter Trello.

Trello - Remote Work Success

What is Trello? In a nutshell:

Trello is the easy, free, flexible, and visual way to manage your projects and organize anything, trusted by millions of people from all over the world.

I don’t work for these guys and i’m not endorsed to offer shameless plugs but as far as remote management tools go these guys have it nailed!

I use Trello in conjunction with Slack. Slack basically creates a simple, navigable way to work in a remote office. Slack has been talked about, debated and discussed the internet over so I won’t outline what they do or how they do it but suffice to say they have worked hard to provide a great service that fosters a professional remote working environment.

I have used Slack/Trello alternatives such as Asana and have found that whilst Asana has some awesome features it isn’t as to-the-point and simple to dive into as Slack and Trello.

So why Trello?

Well for me its the ease and simplicity of its design. You can create boards, lists and then cards. My methodology is:

Board – Clientcentric
List – For the type of task, so for example “Blog Images”
Card – For the attachments.

It saves so much time drafting emails with concepts, everything is kept nice and ordered and can always be sent onto other people within the pipeline without having to forward a potentially personal email you sent to your client or having to write something new.

Trello interacts directly with Slack too. So you can easily post your content right to your remote office without having to duplicate anything at all.

In my opinion the marriage of these two platforms makes freelance project management a breeze.

Trello needn’t be about just the freelance market either. There is a very real appeal to any employ within a normal business. Everybody knows that people are more productive when they’re happy right? Lauren Moon over on Trello has kindly written an interesting blog about how the platform can work for employers everywhere.

“Let’s say it nice and loud for the people in the back:

Remote work is here, and it’s revolutionizing the way we work.

Technology has advanced such that embracing remote is no longer challenging. It requires different considerations for collaboration and communication, sure, but ultimately it is not a lower quality work experience.

How do we know? Because we are proving it out as a team right now, and so are some of the fastest-growing teams in tech.

If you’re not on the remote train yet, we’ve got you covered. We wrote a guide all about the benefits, considerations, and best practices of remote work. These are the most important tips and tried-and-tested practices we’ve picked up along the way of building out our 65% remote team.” – Trello Blog

There is even a great PDF guide that I encourage you all to grab and read through, it’s far better put together than my musings here but I encounter the “I can’t work remotely, I don’t know how to function…”type attitude all the time so thought i’d share this with you.
