Norwich Photography for Groundwork Contractors and Arborists

Groundwork Photographer Norfolk

Blanc Creative provide Photography services for local groundwork contractors, arborists and tree surgeons.

At Blanc Creative, we’ve been running our Norwich Photography business for over ten years. Unlike many other photographers, we specialise only in the Commercial Photography Sector and recently, we’ve ben spending quite a lot of time in Woodland, around lakesides and deep in the heart of forests and scrublands around the country with a number of Groundwork companies. J W Riley Contracting Ltd have taken delivery of the Green Climber LV600, the latest in industrial remote control slope mowers and as part of their latest ,marketing strategy, opted to work with our team at Blanc Creative to film their promotional video productions and commercial imagery. As a forward thinking Contracting company, J W Riley have a really solid social media presence, so our brief was to deliver a bespoke set of stock based images and business based video footage that could be used across all of their social media platforms.

Shooting across a number of locations, we were able to capture a really diverse set of images including Business Portraits otherwise known as business headshots, product photography showcasing brand new plant machinery and working images, documenting the benefits of the Green Climber to potential clients. Choosing to have Commercial Photography is actually a really invaluable product and can be surprisingly inexpensive. Choosing to add a professional promotional video during the same assignment can add even more value. We actually find more and more businesses are choosing to combine packages because they also appreciate the value of video in their marketing. In the case of J W Riley Contracting Ltd, they have incorporated video into dedicated Blog posts on their business website, on their youtube channel, on their instagram pages, facebook business page and Google Plus.

Outdoor Portraits for Business. Bure Valley Railway Commercial Photography

Shooting Commercial Portraits allows you to tell a story and convey more about your business, your staff and what you do. Commercial Portrait Photography can be undertaken in a studio, but capturing staff in their natural woking environment opens up a whole new world of creative possibilities and showcases far more about your business than a plain background ever will. Shooting outdoor portraits in a typical environment also helps staff to relax.  Familiarity lends itself to putting your subject at ease and this is a huge factor in producing natural portraits. To coincide with a re-branding project, we’ve once again been working in the Norfolk Tourism Sector with one of our regular clients, The Bure Valley Railway.

Bure Valley Railway is a major tourist attraction within Norfolk and welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year. With a small team of dedicated staff and volunteers the railway operates on a not for profit basis. Husband and wife team, Andrew and Susan, head up the management team. Andrew’s love of railways from a little boy drew him to Norfolk and he became involved in the railway as a volunteer in its infancy and subsequently gave up his job in London a few years ago to work at the railway full-time. The Railway is built on the trackbed of the former Great Eastern Railway between Wroxham and Aylsham. Originally opened in 1880 the line survived for passenger traffic until 1952, eleven years before the infamous Beeching Report! The line did, however, survive for the purpose of carrying freight, a role it performed until the line was formally closed by British Rail in 1982. Norfolk County Council had an enlightened policy of safeguarding closed railway routes for use as footpaths. Through a partnership between local government and the private sector a narrow gauge line was built between Aylsham and Wroxham, with a nine mile long footpath running alongside.  It is Norfolk’s longest narrow gauge railway which runs between the historic market town of Aylsham and bustling town of Wroxham, at the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The 18 mile round trip runs through the pretty Bure Valley countryside following the meandering River Bure through meadowland and ancient pasture. Along the line are wayside halts serving the picturesque Broadland villages of Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall where you can hop off and explore by foot. Hop back on and continue your journey by train by waiving down the driver to stop.

Bure Valley Railway Commercial Portrait Photography

Shooting Commercial Portrait Photography in the heart of a steam based environment opened up some fantastic opportunities. Set against a background of engineering workshops, oil, grease and steam, we captured daily routines and passionate individuals who together, are responsible for the day to day running of the nostalgic railway. Shooting with predominantly natural light really is hard to beat. Creating ‘modern’ looking Commercial Portrait Photography is a case of working with the best lighting and backgrounds and making the most of having an eye for detail and composition. Working with a nice flat light was also really beneficial when shooting outdoor portraits, reducing harsh shadows and the chances of over exposed highlights. The chances to work with a Northern light can produce an almost  soft box look creating a soft, flattering light which fits just perfectly  for modern looking portraits. There is a reason why many artists have their  studios purposely facing the north.

St Peters Brewery – PR Photography Norwich

PR Photography Norwich

St Peters Brewery – PR Photography Norwich

St Peters Brewery are well known throughout Norfolk as a leading producer of Fine Ales. The brewery has built a fantastic reputation for using locally malted barley with Kentish hops to produce a range of classical English cask-conditioned ales and a range of superb bottled beers. Blanc Creative worked with St Peters back in 2015 at a time when CEO Steve Magnall had only just joined the business. It was a great surprise to hear from Steve again last week when the phone rang and I was asked if I could help out with an urgent commercial shoot for The Sunday Telegraph Newspaper. With a window of only 5 hours, time really was of the essence, but we knew we could deliver the brief for St Peters Brewery.

Having driven the 25 miles to the Brewery, we literally hit the ground running, producing PR Photography Norwich & Editorial Photography that would be suitable to advertise the latest St. Peters Brewery products as well as accompanying a full article that would be written by The Telegraph Newspaper. The imagery was edited on site and hi-resolution imagery transferred onto the St Peter’s Brewery computer within 2 hours of receiving the telephone call.

Chosen photographs were used to highlight story which appeared in an Article in the Newspaper on Sunday 7th August 2016 / Copy text from Daily Telegraph Newspaper

Weatherspoon's tap into St Peters Brewery

St. Peter’s Brewery in Norfolk has struck a deal with Wetherspoons and Stonegate pub chains who will soon begin pouring a range of non-alcoholic beers brewed by St. Peters Brewery. The move comes in a bid to tap into a rise in teetotalism among younger drinkers.  Suffolk brewery St. Peter’s, which already makes cask ales and bottled beers for pubs and supermarkets, has spent three years and nearly £1m developing its alcohol-free beer in a bid to counteract falling alcohol sales. Chief executive Steve Magnall says younger drinkers “have a completely different attitude to alcohol” which the leisure industry needs to respond to. “They drink less but still want a social pint at the end of the day,” he said.

The idea began in 2013 when St. Peter’s owner John Murphy, the branding guru behind HobNobs biscuits and the Mini Metro car, was diagnosed with cancer meaning he couldn’t drink the brewer’s range of organic ale, bitter, porter and stout. It has now signed supply deals with Stonegate, which runs 660 pubs in the UK, and JD Wetherspoons, which owns nearly 1,000 outlets, that will begin trialling the draft and bottled beers from next month.

Tesco will stock the beer later this year, as 1,300 Nisa stores, ahead of “Dry January”, an informal event when people give up alcohol for the month to either detox or raise money for charity. Around 21pc of Britons are now teetotal, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which has crept up from 19pc five years ago, partly due to growing ethnic diversity but also a broader change in drinking habits.Although binge drinking is a recognised problem among young people, they are also far less likely to drink alcohol as an age group – around half of 16 to 24 year-olds (48pc) will have had a drink in the past week, compared with two-thirds of 45-64 year-olds, ONS figures show.

Mr Magnall said that the drinks market is rapidly moving towards lower-calorie and soft drinks. “But blokes, in particular, want to stand there holding a pint in their hand, not an orange juice or a coke,” he said.

St. Peter’s’ “Without” range, which turns out around 200,000 bottles a month, is made using a tightly-guarded brewing process that Mr Magnall says is different from versions already on the market, such as Becks Blue, where the alcohol is stripped from the beer during the alkalisation process.

“This process makes the beer very thin,” he said. “But our drink feels like you’re drinking a beer, looks like a beer, and tastes like a beer.”

It currently makes up 10pc of the £4m-turnover brewery’s output, with all 16 of its brewers required to sign a non-disclosure agreement to keep the brewing process a secret. At 0.009pc alcohol, according to the brewery’s latest test, Mr Magnall says there is more alcohol in a glass of orange juice than a bottle of Without. St. Peter’s brewery, which also has a gluten-free beer range, posted £3.8m sales in the year to February 28, 2015, according to the latest available results, and a £44,800 pre-tax loss.

We like to think that in almost eight years in the industry, that our Commercial Photography Norwich portfolio covers most areas of work that commercial clients require. You’ll find new Commercial Photography popping up on our Blog Section almost every week and we’re pretty proud of specialising purely in this arena. It means that our skill set is geared only to business. Our clients really like this. We shoot PR Photography, Press Photography, Professional Music Photography for Newspapers, Magazines, and online Websites. We’ve had work regularly printed in Mainstream Newspapers, International News Websites, and Magazines. Our commercial photography has been used by International TV Stations to accompany news stories and we shoot Professional Music & News Photography for an International Press Agency based in London and New York.

We have a great portfolio of Advertising Photography, Corporate Event Photography, and Editorial Photography, but we don’t shoot Product Packshots! There’s no particular reason behind this, but photographers are no different to other professionals and you simply have to enjoy your work. It means you can deliver the best results for your clients and we simply took the decision that this area really doesn’t appeal to our creativity. We live in an age where Mobile Phone Technology and affordable cameras make photography accessible by most people. Shooting Professional Commercial Photography that reflects your business values, your dynamic staff and your key services or products are an invaluable part of your visual engagement where camera photography just won’t do! We truly hope you’ll like what you find in our Portfolio and would love to help you make your visions a reality. The opportunity to work on a Creative Video Production for one of the hottest Contemporary Artists to emerge from Norfolk doesn’t happen very often. When MA Wrigley, a talented, Norwich based artist, asked if we’d like to work with him to promote his new work, we jumped at the chance. Working with a range of medias, Mark produces mesmerising artwork including landscapes, contemporary portraiture, and abstract creations. He undertakes private commissions and is currently preparing for his first curated exhibition to be held in his home city of Norwich during the summer of 2018.

This month we’ve been shooting PR Photography ss part of National School Meals Week. Norse Catering teamed up with Norfolk Food and Drink, to provide a number of the company’s school cooks with the opportunity to work alongside some of the county’s top chefs. The concept behind the National School Meals Week is to help change perceptions of school meals in our region and demonstrate how far school catering has come in recent years. We returned to a fantastic kitchen for a second year to capture the experience as part of our ongoing PR Photography work with NORSE Commercial Services.

The White Horse at Brancaster, an award-winning restaurant situated on the marshland coastline of North Norfolk. The White Horse is where the story of Anglian Country Inns (ACI) began and what was a run down old pub is now The White Horse coastal Inn (which incidentally won the Good Hotel Guide Seaside Hotel of the year and Editor’s Choice award three years running). The Brancaster White Horse is a family run business rooted in a love of good food and proper old fashioned hospitality, which extended again this year to hosting a NORSE School Cook into the heart of their kitchen.

There’s nothing quite like shooting PR Photography without a prescribed brief or having to set up a whole host of pre planned images. The working station for dessert and afternoon teas was a dedicate area within the kitchen and a perfect location for shooting all sides of the delicate operation of produce some glorious puddings and structured sandwiches. The finishes products were shot against the backdrop of the restaurant along with some natural business portrait photography.

Group Operations Director Mark Emms said; “Norse cooks are seriously talented cooks in their own right, and to create a fantastic experience for them we sent them to the best restaurants across the region. They joined the teams at Warwick St Social with Daniel Smith, at The White Horse in Brancaster, Brasted’s in Framingham Pigot and at Benedicts in Norwich with well-known local chef Richard Bainbridge, to prepare and cook meals for their discerning paying customers.

“We are really proud of the positive work going on in our schools and we want to tell people about it, even if they do not have children at school. Norse provides almost 4 million meals a year across 250 Norfolk and Suffolk schools – feeding the minds of the next generation.”

The Rise in Advertising Photography!

Social Media has never been so popular. New platforms are literally being developed by the day and almost half a million Images a day land on the pages of Facebook, Instagram, Google+, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Snapchat and Pinterest. People interact with Advertising Photography. You only need to ask yourself… How many times will you actually engage with a story on a website where it’s not accompanied by a photograph. I imagine the answer is ‘Hardly Ever.’  Advertising Photography used on many Big News Websites use a combination of seductive photography to draw in readers to stories that often don’t even reflect anything about the content on the story they are posting. It just goes to shows the power that good Advertising Photography can bring to your business. don’t even use imagery  are you With everyone snap happy with their cameras on their phones more and more pictures are viewed and all of a sudden everyone claims to be a professional photographer but both you and our photographers at Marked Perception know this is not the case.

Great Visual Content Will Work for Your Business.

Rather than relying on generic stock photos for your Advertising Photography, the smartest businesses are looking to photographers who can shoot high quality Advertsing Photographs. People can see Stock Photographs that are more often than not used across numerous sites. Business will often search for popular, trending stock photographs because they want something that’s current, but this usually ends up in carbon copy websites with non specific images that are not reflective of your own business. Advertsing Photography will help businesses evolve their brand and tell a visual story of who they are. Marketing is all about communicating your values. The use of commercial photography is an excellent opportunity to create a solid call to action or message for your business that makes you unique.

Why use a Commercial Photographer to go visual?

You have a great image bank of inspiration right in front of you, but a photographer who works solely in the Commercial Industry will have an eye for composition, will pick out details that many inexperienced hobbyists will miss and be able to work quickly and effectively to maximise your product or service, essentially saving you money. It’s all about experience and no amount of automated Iphone Photography or Smart Phone imagery is going to look like professional Advertising Photography, especially if you need to have the images printed onto any business branding or documents. People look for emotional value and they make buying decisions based on their instinct. Your business content does not have to revolve solely around text. Build in copy spaces around your imagery. A text and image mixed media post is extremely useful and if you take it to the next level, Video Content has exploded into the Business World, But that’s another Blog Post. Advertising Photography and other visual materials should be the goto source so using a professional photographer will land you a bank of useable images that you can populate your e-mails, website and marketing material and help engagement and click-throughs.
