Photographing the Sport of Kings at Great Yarmouth Racecourse
There really is nothing better than the sport of Kings. The 300 year old sport, rooted with England’s monarchy has never been more accessible by racegoers of every age and social background. The chance to combine an avid interest with work as a professional commercial photographer is an absolute dream. We’ve been working officially for the past two seasons with Great Yarmouth Racecourse, documenting all aspects of the business from Corporate Hospitality photography, Food Photography and of course, Horse Racing Photography.
Great Yarmouth Racecourse is well known Course East Anglia and plays host to some of the top Horse Racing in the country. As summer draws to a close, Great Yarmouth Racecourse launches the three day Eastern Festival. Around 15,000 people pour through the gates and pack out the grandstand and enclosures, hoping to catch a fleeting glimpse of horses and riders. Top jockeys including Frankie Dettori, Silvestre De Sousa, Jim Crowley & Ryan Moore ride the September meeting across the eight race card. Punters may even see appearances from famous celebrity owners including Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber who have been known to fly into the course for an afternoon of racing.
The Eastern Festival also hosts “Ladies Day” with Ladies pulling out all of the stops for a spectacular “Dress to Impress” day out. For one day during the Eastern Festival, Great Yarmouth Racecourse literally turns into a catwalk for stunning dresses, amazing high heels and a milliners dream. The Festival is a substantial race meeting for the region in terms of the quality of racing and is a premier event for Great Yarmouth Racecourse that assists to boost the Town’s economy with tourists visiting Great Yarmouth purely to experience horse racing.
