Norwich City Football Team Hold Open Training Session.

Norwich City Football Team held a very special Event with a chance for Norwich City supporters to get a good look at Daniel Farke’s 2019 squad at Carrow Road. As Premier League preparations picked up pace over 500 Canaries fans attended an open day, watching the Championship winners go through their training routines in the sunshine, despite a few rumbles of thunder rolling around the summer skies. Norwich City Football Team were getting ready for their fifth pre-season friendly, away to Championship new boys Luton at Kenilworth Road on Saturday There were encouraging signs for star striker Teemu Pukki, who took part despite being rested for Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat to Brentford at Colney with a slight toe issue. New boys Patrick Roberts and Ralf Fahrmann were among the players on show, with some supporters taking the chance to get selfies and autographs with the players.

The Club’s preparations for the new season began with the  City touring of Germany between July 12-20. Daniel Farke’s men returned back to UK soil for four fixtures before the Premier League commenced, beginning with a behind-closed-doors match against Brentford and he Norwich City Football Team set off the season with great form and a legendary win against Manchester City. Daniel Farke had an injury plagued squad to select from and despite Manchester City dominating the opening exchanges, City sought to impose themselves onto the game, with a prolonged spell of possession culminating in a 3-2 victory against all the odds.

Apart from the seismic home win over champions Manchester City, Norwich’s return to the Premier League has largely been a difficult one.

Unfortunately, latter from has not been quite so impressive. The Norwich City Football Team have lost all four away league matches this season, culminating in a disastrous 5-1 defeat at Carrow Road today against Aston Villa, who had not earned a Premier League away win in 21 matches – a run going back to August 2015.

Norwich currently sit in the relegation zone Norwich and are predicted to concede more goals than any Premier League team this season. If the defeats continue, City will become the most relegated team ever from the Premier League, a title that they really could do without.

If there’s one good way to kick off the winter blues, it has to be heading back to the height of summer and a stroll down our music archives and a flick through our huge 2017 Festival Portfolios. For the past couple of years, Biffy Clyro has been up there as one of our favourite performances, returning this year with a jump from the more intimate Radio 6 Stage to Main Stage at Big weekend and performing a Headline set at Downlaod Festival 2017 amongst others. The Band are a pleasure to photograph, always give an awesome performance and are some of the nicest celebrities off stage as well. With Biffy Clyro you get the best of both..

Who’s Biffy Clyro

Biffy Clyro are a Scottish Rock Band made up of  Simon Neil,(guitar, lead vocals), James Johnston (bass, vocals) and Ben Johnston (drums, vocals).  They’ve have seven albums, with Opposites hitting the UK number-one album position. The Band have a striong fan base who have adopted ‘Mon the Biff as a well orchestrated chant while the band are on stage. well known chants among Biffy fans, usually shouted in between songs at gigs, or before the band comes on stage so where does Biffy Clyro come from. The band have been giving giving a series of stories as to how the name came about. The band once claimed they named themselves after a footballer while another story is that one of the members owned a Cliff Richard pen, i.e. “Cliffy Biro.”Simon Neil claimed that Biffy was Scotsman that built his own rocket and Ben Johnston claimed Biffy is in fact the nickname of the spy who the James Bond novels were based on. It’s a burning question and we may never get to the bottom of this intricately well woven web of stories.

About Lee Blanchflower

I’m a huge believer in fate, so what better way to begin a great career as a Professional Music Photographer and Videographer. Seven years ago ago I’d never shot a band. A chance encounter on Facebook with my good friend and international drumming legend Steve Barney, led to spending some backstage time with ‘The Wanted’ and another impromptu photoshoot with a pretty much unheard of band called ‘Lawson.’ One magazine publication later and a number of locked doors opened for me as if by magic into the crazy world of ‘Three Songs, No Flash’ and a once in a lifetime chance to work in close proximity with some of the the greatest music artists on the planet. There’s a huge demand for Music based photography and Video and it fits perfectly in the Commercial photography genre.

What is Press Photography – A Guide stepping on the Press Ladder!

Norwich Press Photography

We’ve all heard the term Press Photography, but what does it really cover. Media Photography or Photojournalism is a professional photographer who captures images of current stories, events or newsworthy occurrences for news agencies, printed newspapers, magazines, and news websites. Fort longer term reportage or documentary style pieces, the term photojournalist is a wider used term, however, press photography and photojournalism often cross over during the course of work. As a full time professional photographer working in the commercial industry, Press Photography was a natural progression. Blanc Creative built a solid reputation in Norwich before moving into the world of media and corporate imagery and video throughout the UK.

To succeed in the industry you will need a certain set of skills. Just because you can hold a camera and may have had the local newspaper print an image of sunset in their readers section, doesn’t mean that you will do well in the world of press photography It can be a demanding, fsst past role with long hours and have good technical knowledge of all camera equipment

Have visual composition and perspective skills to make for newsworthy images.
Have a good understanding of image-management software (photo Mechanic etc) and photo manipulation software (treat manipulation with caution and read this article for full clarification)
Know your camera inside out. You’ll need to work in all conditions on the fly
Look for situations that are developing into news images. It’s all about to capture ‘The moment’ when and as it happens
work quickly and don’t crumble under pressure.
Be prepared to wait for age for a very short timeframe of work.
Have excellent communication skills
Expect to work copious amounts of hours for very little in return. You won’t be getting the ‘Scoop’ every day or every week.

What Qualifications Do You Need?

It really depends on age, experience and reputation. If you’ve never worked in the industry, never been a professional photographer, just left school and have no solid experience, then you’re likely to need at least five GCSEs, including English, and/or two years’ experience in photography, or a further education qualification in photography. There are lots of College and University courses available that will provide a sound technical grounding, but whatever way you look at it, there is no experience… Like Experience!

Images are generally shot on location, using hand-held digital cameras with a portable flash and photographers tend to have their own wifi set up and fast laptops. The faster the images are uploaded to News Agencies, the faster the chances that your images will be purchased by Press or Newspapers. Picture desks like to have images so they have exclusive stories or breaking news. Press Photography is essentially about uploading a handful of high quality, new worthy images to accompany a news story. Many Newspaper and magazine Photography freelancers now work on commission only basis. The days of in house commissioned photographers are numbered, They are a dying breed. Images are generally bought ‘on spec’ (speculatively) if it is of a high standard or features a subject not covered by their own photographers.

PR and Press photography is often scheduled in advance, particularly for pre planned visits or events. Monthly diaries are released by prerss agencies to their freelancers where accreditation is required. Photographers will be scheduled in advance and independent agencies will brief freelance press photographers on the type of shots required.

NUJ (National Union of Journalists) is a good sign that a freelancer is a Professional Press Photojournalist. Membership is through proposal / seconding of accredited referees and providing a portfolio of press articles and publications where work has been used professionally. Being a member certainly isn’t the be all and end all, but it will give you some credibility within the industry and offers elements of legal advice and support for photographers when they require it. To read further articles about Photography and videography, why not head over to the Blanc Creative Blog.
